Kōrin (1658-1716) was the originator of a Japanese style of painting today called Rinpa (i.e., school [pa)] of Kōrin [rin]. He simplified the shapes and colors of the objects that he drew and arranged them to create artificial, decorative patterns that were pleasing to the eye.
